One of the world’s best known manufacturers of small marine diesel engines is investing to significantly increase its presence in France.

Yanmar Marine International and the Nautical Institute of Brittany (INB) have signed a three-year partnership agreement to provide training on Yanmar’s engines and new technologies.

The deal, agreed by the Yanmar France team and INB director Laurent Winisky, aims to train new technicians from across the Yanmar France distribution network. Close collaboration between the two organisations will allow students to benefit from both the equipment and support provided by Yanmar and the technical infrastructure of the INB, which has facilities in Concarneau and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

As part of its long-term strategy, Yanmar is significantly increasing its presence in France. Having recently brought distribution for engines and parts in-house, the company is now moving to address the lack of qualified engine technicians within the industry. By working with a flagship training establishment such as the INB, Yanmar will ensure that, in addition to seamless distribution, expert mechanics are available to meet the installation and maintenance demands of dealers and vessel owners.
