Fugro expands ROV fleet

Fugro Subsea Services in Aberdeen has extended its worldwide ROV fleet with the addition of six new craft from Saab Seaeye of Fareham under an order worth nearly £5m.

Saab Seaeye’s 1500m depth rated Lynx ROV, four of which have been ordered by Fugro Subsea Services for initial operation in Scottish, Brazilian and Singapore waters.

They comprise four proprietary Lynx and two Panther XT ROV systems, all of which are enroute for service in Brazil, Singapore and Scotland to support drilling and completion operations as well as those for offshore construction, inspection, repair and maintenance.

For their inspection role, the Lynx systems feature camera and sonar facilities together with a manipulator and tooling skid while the Panthers are configured for light intervention work and survey tasks. In addition to composite video and serial data transmission via fibre optic cables, some of the systems also include an ethernet high speed data link for connection of sensors such as multibeam sonars. Fugro has been a long term user of Seaeye ROVs since the early 1990s.
