Gould services to open new Vlissingen facility
Gould Services, one of the leading Dutch wind farm support service companies is planning to develop a new offshore support facility at the Port of Vlissingen writes Dag Pike.
The new terminal will be located at the Eerste Binnenhaven which is situated inside the dock area at the port with access through lock gates. This area separates the two main docks in the port and has facilities for a shipyard and for servicing fishing vessels. The proposed new facility for Gould will be purpose built and in addition to shore side buildings it will have a 175metre long quayside for mooring vessels which will be able to accommodate larger support vessels as well as wind farm transfer craft. The area to be occupied by Gould will extend to 6000 square metres,
In order to expand and consolidate its business, Gould Services has said it will relocate its head office which is currently located at Middelburg, 15 kilometres to the north, to the new location at Vlissingen so that all of the company’s facilities are at one location. Gould Services is expanding to provide a complete range of wind farm facilities and is one of several companies looking at establishing facilities at Vlissingen to service the new wind farms being established offshore in this region.
