Guardian Maintains Denmark – Russia Subsea Cable
Subsea cable installation and maintenance company Global Marine Systems Ltd has new customers for its Guardian private cable maintenance programme, with Danish communications solutions provider TDC and Russian long distance telecommunications operator Rostelecom both signing up.
Marine Designs has built more linkspans on London’s River Thames than anyone else and some of the company’s more high profile installations include a 90m long by 15m wide pontoon at the Millennium Dome plus others at Woolwich Arsenal and at the Tate Britain art gallery, all certified to Lloyds Linkspan Rules.
Under the programme, both TDC and Rostelecom will have a comprehensive fibre optic cable maintenance contract based upon mutually agreed performance metrics and a fixed price for the term of the agreement Spanning 1,216km, the Denmark Russia 1 fibre optic cable has provided Russia with connectivity to Western Europe for the past 11 years, running from Karlslunde in Denmark to Kingesepp in Russia. It will be serviced by both Global Marine’s CS Sovereign and CS Sentinel, which are based at Portland Port in the UK.
