Fire blazed through a marina at Marbella, the largest town on Spain’s famous Costa del Sol, on Wedneday evening.
Reports said some of the boats being stored in a facility at the La Bajadilla fishing port, owned by Marina Marbella, were worth millions of euros.
Around 30 firefighters and a dozen fire engines attended the blaze, which according to Marbella Town Council was fuelled by plastic and fuel at the facility, although the actual cause is still not known.
One firefighter was slightly injured and treated at the scene.
Town Mayor Angleles Munoz, who attended, said the fire was quickly isolated and prevented from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
He confirmed that around 80 boats, including recreational and larger vessels, and jet skis had been stored at the facility.
Chief firefighter Medardo Tudela said the building had collapsed.
