Geological Assistance & Services (GAS) of Bologna, one of Italy’s leading survey and positioning organisations, has been awarded a long-term contract by oil and gas contractor Saipem for supply of services during installation of export and infield pipelines for secondary development of the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea.
Operated by BP and planned for delivery of gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe, the field is located 90km offshore Azerbaijan with water depths of between 75m and 550m.
Scope of services to be provided by GAS aboard the 92-metre dive support vessel Akademik Tofik Ismayilov includes touch down monitoring during pipe laying in addition to as-laid, as-built and out-of-straightness surveys over a total of 360km of pipelines.
