ITS 2004 – Complete Papers & Discussions

Book of Papers is a bound volume of the complete proceedings of the verysuccessful 18th Tug & Salvage Convention held in Miami in April of this year.

The conference was attended by over 300 delegates and 70-plus exhibitors from 40 countries.

This volume, in keeping with those of preceding bi-annual conventions contains not only the latest ideas and thoughts of the world’s leading players in the tugs, towage and salvage business, but the names and addresses of all participants – along with a 20 page full colour pictorial review.

The body of the book contains the full text of all 27 papers presented at the Convention, along with all of the supporting illustrations, graphs and technical drawings. Also included is a transcript of the discussions that took place following each presentation. The subjects covered by a wide range of industry experts and representatives vary from a history of towage in the Panama Canal to the latest developments in the fields of ASD tug design, noise control aboard tugs, propulsion systems and towlines. Among the papers from the salvage sector were papers on implications of Maritime Security, Ports of Refuge and Tackling Hazardous Substances. The volume ends with an account and transcripts from the Forum – a discussion among a panel of towage and salvage experts and the audience on a number of issues affecting the “The Future of the Towage and Salvage Industry”.

This is a bound volume destined to join those of previous ITS Conventions on the bookshelves of many involved in the day-to-day technical, operational and legal work of the towage and salvage industry, where it will provide a valuable reference for the future.
