The MAN B&W Diesel Group more than doubled its operating profit last year, leaping to 117m from 55m in 2004. Incoming orders were up by 18% to 2,203m and turnover was up by 17% to 1,666m.
DV Howells was established in its current form in 1998 with a remit to create a business from the core contract held at that time with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for housing and deploying the national stockpile of equipment to be used in the event of major oil pollution at sea. The business has grown to include inland response, training, rail and industrial services, and overseas consultancy.
An order backlog up 37% to 1,991m secures full capacity at the company's production sites until mid-2007. In order to advance the integration of facilities in Germany, Denmark, England and France, MAN B&W Diesel AG will be converted into an European company during the 2006 financial year and renamed MAN Diesel SE (Societas Europaea).
