The MCA has embarked upon an industry wide consultation on the draft Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution by Sewage and Garbage from Ships) Regulations 2008 which will impose the new provisions of MARPOL Annex IV (Sewage) and Annex V (Garbage). Lorraine Weller explains the extent and expected effect of the provisions.MAN Diesel is making all of its engines compatible with limits established by the IMO in its Tier II regulations. The portfolio relaunch pre-empts the January 2011 implementation date for the new NOx emission limits. The new programme was launched last month at Asia License Days, a meeting of MAN Diesel licensees in the region, at which they were updated on the latest developments with particular emphasis on environmental issues.
