The MCA has embarked upon an industry wide consultation on the draft Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution by Sewage and Garbage from Ships) Regulations 2008 which will impose the new provisions of MARPOL Annex IV (Sewage) and Annex V (Garbage). Lorraine Weller explains the extent and expected effect of the provisions.The recent European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) in Brussels drew over 6,000 registered participants from some 80 countries, including more than 2,000 conference delegates and 230 exhibitors. Riding wind energy's surging momentum, the European Wind Energy Association has announced EWEC 2009, scheduled for 16 - 19 March in Marseilles. The call for abstracts closes on 10 September 2009.
