MIT is excited to announce that it has signed a lease for a new, purpose-built facility at the Walbrook Business Park in Queenborough, located on the Isle of Sheppey.
Since its establishment in 1974, Queenborough and its community have been home to MIT, and the company looks forward to continuing its journey there.
Founded by visionary Rodney Hill, who formerly led British Twin Disc, MIT has proudly served the UK’s marine and industrial markets for over 50 years. The upcoming move to a state-of-the-art 2,000 square meter unit represents a significant step forward in the company’s growth strategy, transitioning from its original location in Queenborough Shipyard.
The new facility will consolidate all operations under one roof, encompassing warehousing, a paint shop, machine work, and repairs. This consolidation is expected to enhance workflow and productivity, enabling MIT to collaborate more effectively with new vendors and brands. The company’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions tailored to customer needs will be strengthened, while staff will benefit from modern office spaces, upgraded breakroom facilities, and welcoming meeting areas designed to foster creativity and collaboration.
John Logue, Managing Director of MIT, expressed the company’s excitement about the move, stating, “This move secures employment for our wonderful workforce here on the Island and provides us with the opportunity to expand.” He added that staying on the Isle of Sheppey is vital, as it allows the company to remain rooted in the community and invest in local staff, who are the heart of operations. “Our success over the past 50 years is due to the dedication and passion of our people.”
In line with its growth, MIT is also committed to sustainability—a core value shared with its parent company, Axel Johnson International. The new facility will incorporate solar panels and modern insulation to help reduce operating costs and emissions, reflecting MIT’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
MIT is excited about the opportunities for expanding partnerships and enhancing offerings. Planned improvements include, driveline package builds, swing stock management, strategic spares warehousing, and much more.
The entire team at MIT looks forward to this new chapter and extends their gratitude to the community for being a part of their journey and is looking forward to moving to the new facility in summer 2026.
