15 Years of Proven Track Record at QDC, US, and over 100 Fender Systems delivered

Starting in 2011 with the first delivery at the Port of Davisville (RI), the track record between ShibataFenderTeam and Quonset Development Cooperation has steadily expanded over time.

This was followed in 2018 by the largest fender system order to date comprising almost 60 Cone Fender Systems. Building on this long-standing collaboration, ShibataFenderTeam was selected to equip its latest development: Terminal 5, a multi-purpose terminal designed to accommodate a range of potential uses, with the final tenant deciding its ultimate use.

SFT designed, and delivered in late 2025, 12 Cone Fender Systems (SPC 1200 and SPC 600), each equipped with closed box steel panels ranging from 3000x3962 mm down to 1828x3352 mm, and 10 Ocean Guard Fender Systems (Ø1524x4260 mm). The order scope also included 33 Bollards (various types and load capacities), 2 DD Corner Fender Systems (500x500 mm) and 3 Laminated Pile Wrap Fenders manufactured by our partner company Schuyler Rubber.

The terminal’s multipurpose design, from car imports to the transshipment of offshore wind components, means it must accommodate different berthing scenarios. To meet this requirement, the SFT in-house engineering team selected two different Cone Fender Systems for side and end-berthing, and also Foam Filled Fenders for a certain section of the terminal.

Quonset Development Cooperation ranks in the top 10 of auto ports in the United States, having one of the major gateway for imports and exports of cars, as well as frozen seafood and project cargo for the emerging hub of offshore wind components.
