New HYPACK Software

United States-based Coastal Oceanographics Inc , developers of widely-used software for marine surveying, positioning and navigation, has announced availability of a new HYPACK MAX version 2.12a Gold program for survey design, data collection, graphical editing, plotting, volume computations, surface modelling and contouring.

The former Ministry of Defence agency has teamed with Tiny Red Monkey of Weymouth to launch a computer programme based on its video mosaicing technology which can convert moving digital sequences into single panoramic pictures. The programme, SnapDV, can be downloaded from the internet for £25 to produce high resolution images, including panoramas and group shots, using a roll capable printer. Until now, according to QinetiQ, the technology has only been available to professionals at a cost of thousands of pounds.

The program has a number of advanced features, including a new 3DTV terrain dredger viewer mode for real-time updates of surface models during dredging or surveying.

A further addition is an ancillary HYSCAN sidescan sonar acquisition program. The complete suite, says Coastal Oceanographics, is being distributed to all its HYPACK maintenance plan subscribers.
