New Norcom software seen at Seawork
A new marine GIS software suite for overlaying data onto electronic charts was among a number latest developments featured by Norcom Technology on its Seawork stand.
Phil Harris, managing director of the Norwich UK company, said that unlike comparable programs, it maintains a chart in its original format so that data is not stretched to fit a grid.
Designed for engineering risk management studies prior to carrying out operations, the suite is a derivative of the company’s SeaTrak online electronic chart plotter folio management system for high resolution printing, which also incorporates an up to date database of all known wrecks in the UK and Ireland.
Both developments are complemented by a risk mitigation software package for North Sea applications which specifies all possible known seabed obstructions, including wrecks, pipelines, cables and well heads. It also shows areas of unexploded ordnance, including military practice and exercise areas as well as existing oil fields and wind farm developments.
