Dual power mobile harbour crane starts work
A new mobile harbour crane with dual power has begun operations at HHLA TK Estonia’s terminal, increasing the speed and efficiency of bulk handling.
The Mantsinen Group from Finland delivered the 120 DER crane, which has a total handling capacity of 620 tonnes of bulk cargo per hour. Besides that used for bulk handling, a variety of different lifting attachments are also available.
“The equipment proved its high quality and operational reliability at the first use,” said Riia Sillave, chief executive of HHLA TK Estonia. “Two ships were already serviced and loaded with 30,000 tonnes of Estonian grain and pellets each.”
Aligning with HHLA TK Estonia’s use of power from renewable sources only, the crane produces no greenhouse gases when working in electric mode.
“Our new crane serves our customers faster and with plugging it onto the shore power grid, it is the next step in our sustainability path,” said Riia Sillave.
HHLA TK Estonia is a part of European logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG which operates container terminals in Hamburg, Odessa, Trieste and Muuga, as well as running logistics interconnections and intermodal hubs in many regions of central and eastern Europe.
