New waste solution for smaller vessels

’Dehydro’ uses dehydration technology to reduce the volume of waste on vessels that makes it viable for smaller vessels so that they don’t have to dispose waste into the ocean.

Evac says its technology reduces wet waste volume by a massive 80%, transforms it into a sterile, dry powder by using a high-temperature drying process of up to 180^oC, then crushes and deodorises it.

This means it does not need to be treated and it can be offloaded much more simply.

The design aims at vessels that produce between 50kg and 1,000kg of wet waste per day, so that could include Offshore Support Vessels, passenger vessels, large yachts, small merchant vessels and ferries.

“Many smaller vessels rely on outdated, unsustainable waste disposal options, requiring them to either discharge waste into the sea where permitted or transport it to land-based facilities, both of which have significant environmental and financial costs,” says Evac Group CEO Björn Ullbro.
