Remote electric boat launcher to be unveiled next week

C-ROVR, by New Zealand firm Tectrax, is being launched after a decade in development, says Tectrax partner SBS Trailers, which will show it off on the quayside at Q34.

It is a self-driving piece of equipment that can be operated via a wireless remote with a range of 500 metres’ line of sight so that operators can launch or retrieve their vessel from onboard or onshore.

Each C-ROVR is custom built and can be used for boats from 4m to more than 10 metres and with loads of more than 7,000kg. No tow vehicle is needed.

“Designed specifically for use in the water, it is built to perform in tough marine conditions,” says SBS Trailers. “The C-ROVR is robust, fully submersible and engineered for long-lasting reliability. 

“Each wheel hub is triple sealed and fitted with built-in moisture sensors, to ensure waterproof integrity and consistent performance. This allows for confident launches in deeper water and smooth, controlled retrievals every time.”

UK-based SBS Trailers is the first authorised partner of Tectrax outside New Zealand.
