UK firm opens subsea repair firm in US

Drift Offshore, which is registered in Aberdeen, Scotland, specialises in repairing and maintaining subsea equipment such as electronics and hydraulics systems; mechanical assemblies; manipulators; computer and control systems; and other engineered solutions.

It also offers emergency call-out services for equipment breakdowns offshore.

The 5,000ft² (460m²) facility in south Florida was announced in October 2024, when an announcement said it would ‘address a critical shortage of subsea equipment repair services in the US market and help customers sustain high operational performance’.

“This investment represents a major step forward for our business and directly addresses a pressing market need,” said Kyle Pitman, Drift Offshore’s Americas president.

“These are exciting times for our business as we combine our three decades of ROV experience with a fully equipped facility to create a much-needed new repair and engineering solution for subsea operators in the US. It has long been recognised that there’s a market shortage of qualified repair facilities and skilled technicians, which impacts the availability and efficiency of subsea equipment.

“We decided to make this investment because we could see how our experience and expertise, particularly in the Schilling and Perry product lines, could be applied to create a new, solution-oriented support resource.”
