Caris survey software for Italy and the UK
The Italian Hydrographic Institute in Genoa, the official nautical charting agency of the Italian Navy since 1872, has selected CARIS HIPS and SIPS geospatial software for processing of all its survey data. Applications will cover a workflow ranging from processing information, management of bathymetric and hydrographic data and charting to product presentation and distribution.
Canadian based CARIS, which also maintains regional offices in Australia, the Netherlands, UK and the US, has also announced that the Port of Tyne in Newcastle is to use its proprietary software for bathymetric survey management and analyses.
One of the UK’s largest trust organisations and recently voted European Port of the Year by the Institute of Transport Management for the second successive year, the Port has a remit covering over 20 miles of river frontage in the Tyne and Wear region, with many closely grouped industries dependent upon access to the local river for their livelihood. The new software will also enable its survey team to create channel condition and shoal reports and design channel reference models.
