CorrOcean Wins Contract for Belfast Harbour
CorrOcean Ltd Aberdeen has been awarded a major contract by Belfast Harbour Commissioners to supply and install cathodic protection systems for the Port of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The Port of Belfast is Ireland’s major maritime gateway to Europe handling around 25 per cent of Ireland’s sea borne trade.
The contract is part of the port’s continuing development and modernisation programme for infrastructure improvements.
One specific problem that this will address is the aggressive problem of Accelerated Low Water Corrosion (ALWC), which, in recent years has been the cause many millions of pounds worth of damage to ports worldwide.
Commenting on the contract award, Roddy James, Project Manager for CorrOcean in Aberdeen, said: ‘We are seeing increased applications for corrosion protection systems in harbour areas. With a dedicated department and a proven track record in this area we are able to offer our clients innovative solutions tailored to individual requirements for corrosion problems within the ports industry. In the last two years we have installed more than 20 systems around the UK.”
