Gardline Brazilian project
Gardline Hydro of Great Yarmouth, whose expertise covers geophysical surveys and seabed mapping for non-oil and gas applications, is presently midway through mapping Brazil’ s continental shelf under a multi-million dollar government contract.
Designed to fulfill the country’s commitment to UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea), the acquisition phase of the project extends to early next year and involves acquisition and processing of more than 50,000km of single and multi-channel seismic, multibeam bathymetry and associated geophysical sensor data in depths up to 5,000m.
MV Sea Surveyor, Gardline Hydro’s multirole 64.4m survey vessel, with an operational endurance rating of 35 to 40 days, has been specially upgraded for the project with equipment including Kongsberg’s latest EM 710/122 high resolution multibeam systems capable of full ocean depth operations.
Data is being processed and delivered onboard to Femar, the Brazilian government organisation, to ensure rapid interpretation and assessment of fitness for purpose.
