Italian Job for Veripos
GNSS positioning specialists Veripos of Aberdeen have been awarded a further three year contract by Naples based GeoLab, one of continental Europe’ s leading offshore survey and construction support organisations.
This is for provision of high precision services as an aid to the Italian company’s global operations on behalf of major oil and dredging concerns as well as government agencies and research institutes. The contract, which was signed at last month’s Oceanology International 08 convention in London, extends the relationship between the two companies following an earlier three year agreement.
Under the new agreement, Veripos will continue to provide GeoLab with a full range of proprietary globalised positioning facilities extending from the company’s Standard GNSS augmentation service to its latest Ultra Precise Point Positioning (PPP) capability which ensures decimetre level accuracies by minimising or removing all main GPS error sources. Together with the additional supply of demodulators, Verify QC software and e-learning training modules, the services will collectively support GeoLab’s series of group-sourced subsea survey and DP support vessels operating from regional bases in Namibia, the UAE and West Africa in addition to Italy.
The Italian deal was the second major satellite positioning contract concluded by Veripos on 1 January following a similar five year agreement with Trident Offshore, whose worldwide activities include over 120 rig moves a year in deep to ultra-deep waters as well as congested field development areas.
