Navis extends range of DP sytems
Finland’ s Navis Engineering has extended its range of dynamic positioning systems with the introduction of a new series, NavDP 4000.
Typical applications include those for hydrographic survey and offshore supply vessels, crew boats, anchor handling tugs, oil and gas shuttle tankers, buoy tenders, cable layers and dredgers.
The company, which claims to have supplied DP equipment for more than 250 vessels over the last eight years, says the new systems can be supplied as stand alone units or as part of integrated assemblies.
Their modular architecture also allows for integration with various types of propulsion/thruster and power management systems, with sensors and reference units selected according to class rules and vessel mission. There are also black box options for recording, storage and playback of operational data.
Other main features of Windows XP operating systems include integral fully functional autopilots which have been type approved by DNV as heading control assemblies. Moreover, since they are approved for navigation, they can also be used instead of a separate conventional heading control systems.
Complete 4000 systems are already operational at Aboa Mare University of Applied Sciences in Turku, Finland’s largest simulator training centre.
