UKHO Guide for Electronic Chart Carriage
The UK HydrographicOffice, which has just been retained by the Military Survey Department of theUnited Arab Emirates to advise on planning and management for surveys of localterritorial waters, has introduced a second edition of its Facts About Electronic Charts & Carriage Requirements
Available as a free website download, it is compiled in an easy to read question and answer style and details over 20 of the most commonly asked questions for anyone involved in production, purchase, regulation or use of electronic charts. It has been jointly prepared by a working group drawn from the world’s two leading ENC centres, IC-ENC and Primar Stavanger.
There are five sections:Facts about electronic charts and carriage requirements;
Compendium of Flag State ECDIS requirements;
Training requirements;
Technical Details of electronic charts;
References and glossary.
