The move has been made, says Axel Johnson, to ’strengthen the presence in the renewable energy market and expand the portfolio of hydraulic and electrification solutions within the business group Driveline Solutions’.

Axel Johnson has five other business groups, including Fluid Handling Solutions; Industrial Automation; Lifting Solutions; Power Transmission Solutions; and Transport Solutions.

Hercules Group specialises in hydraulic and electric systems for small to medium sized vessels, which means Driveline Solutions can claim it has a strengthened foothold in the marine market, ’particularly within the growing offshore wind sector’.

Hercules’ portfolio covers all aspects of vessel operation, it says, with a focus on integrated systems to improve performance and efficiency.

“We are excited to join forces with a large, well-established owner that has deep knowledge in our product areas and propulsion systems,” said Hercules Group CEO Ryan Langley. “Axel Johnson International’s strong values and commitment to sustainable growth align perfectly with our vision for the future. Together, we are eager to continue developing the business, expanding our offerings, and strengthening our position in the global market.”

The management team will remain in place, Axel Johnson said.
