Cadeler signs letter of intent with unnamed firm
Offshore wind installation specialist Cadeler says it has signed a letter of intent with what it says is a ’blue chip client’ to use one of its two O class vessels over a long-term period.
Without naming the client, Cadeler says the proejct will cover offshore wind farm assignments in Northern European and US waters.
“The projects covered by the potential new contract will be executed by the O-class wind installation vessel vessel after it has undergone a large crane upgrade,” says Cadeler. “The new main crane will have a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes at a radius of 40 metres and a hook height of 160 metres above deck.”
The upgrade is exactly the same as one the company said it would be making to Wind Orca, which it has contracted with Siemens Gamesa to deploy in a 60-turbine installation at the Moray West wind farm off the coast of Scotland. The work is scheduled to begin in early 2024.
Given that it has already said it will use Wind Orca in the Siemens Gamesa project, the likelihood is that the second vessel, Wind Osprey, will be used for this latest work.
