Acta Marina expands fleet
Acta Marine of the Netherlands is expanding its fleet with a new DP-1 multipurpose workboat, to be named ‘Coastal Chariot’.
The new 35m vessel will feature two 2,380kW engines driving fixed pitch propellers, two 250kW Azimuthing bow thrusters, and will have more than 35 tonnes bollard pull.
It will also feature an 80 tonne anchor handling winch and a 310 tonne hydraulic deck crane.
Coastal Chariot will be the fourth vessel within Acta Marine’s fleet of 40 workboats that is equipped with Dynamic Positioning. The company was the first owner and operator to apply this technology to smaller workboats.
This new vessel is also different in that it will have an operating draft of just 1.8m, making it suitable for operation in ultra shallow waters and extremely close to coastlines. Acta adds that its ‘DP Multicats’ are one of the most fuel efficient vessels on the market.
It is currently under construction in the Netherlands, being built by Maritiem Cluster Friesland. The vessel is expected to be delivered in early 2014 when it will be immediately available for charter.
