Alicat launches
Alicat Workboats has completed and launched the first of four offshore windfarm workboats for a major energy utility.
The 19m Solway Challenger entered the water recently ahead of preliminary sea trials before being deployed for long-term operations and maintenance work.
The aluminium hulled catamaran offers a greater loading capacity across the fore deck, a completely redesigned saloon, and an island wheelhouse arrangement as envisioned by Global Marine Design.
It is capable of reaching speeds up to 30 knots, powered by two MAN V12 engines driving Rolls-Royce water jets.
The remaining three workboats will be built and delivered over the next nine months.
