Aqua-Guard contract with Damen
Canada’s Aqua-Guard Solutions has signed a contract with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem to supply two large URO 300Z1 offshore oil skimming systems for two newbuilds.
Damen Shipyards is currently building two 67m Oil Spill Response Vessels (OSRV’s class 1050) for GeoNavegação of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Each vessel will be equipped with one Aqua-Guard URO 300Z1 offshore oil skimming system.
Aqua-Guard’s patented RBS TRITON™ oil skimming technology has the ability to recover in excess of 300 m3/h of oil.
The technology has only one skimmer head and can be used for virtually any type of oil spill, including ultra-viscous oils.
The company said that this feature decreases response time, increases storage space on the vessel and also increases safety of the equipment operators, because minimal additional setup is required while on the way to the oil spill.
