Award for Evinrude engine

Evinrude’s new E-TEC G2 engine from BRP has been awarded the ‘Product Design’ prize at the recent Red Dot Awards.

Evinrude’s E-TEC G2 offers what is said to be the first and only customisable look, clean rigging system and fully integrated digital controls. It won the award thanks to its eco credentials, which include 75% fewer total regulated emissions, 15% better fuel efficiency and 20% more torque than leading four-stroke engines.

Tim Gys, regional BRP commercial manager UK and Ireland, said: “The Evinrude E-TEC G2 has introduced a new era in outboard engines and re-emphasises BRP’s reputation in developing world class products and pioneering designs.”

“It’s a real achievement to be awarded this well esteemed prize and recognises the international team’s hard work in delivering outstanding technology,” he added.

Since 1955, the accolade has recognised companies and individuals which are demonstrating trend setting designs through their products. This year, 4,928 projects from 56 countries were submitted to the jury. Only 81 entries received the top award, the Red Dot: Best of the Best, while 122 won an ‘Honourable Mention’ for a well-executed aspect of design work.

The award ceremony for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 will take place on Monday, 29 June 2015 in Essen’s Aalto-Theater.
