Baltic 2 monopiles installed
All 39 monopiles of the German offshore windfarm, Baltic 2, have been installed in just over two months, despite weather delays.
Among the monopiles installed by Ballast Nedam Offshore were the largest used in offshore wind energy so far, weighing in at 930 tonnes.
The company installed the monopiles at EnBW’s offshore windfarm for the joint venture of Hochtief and Geosea.
For the installation, Ballast Nedam applied its feeding principle. The monopiles were transported from EEW’s fabrication yard in Rostock to the offshore site – a successful principle that has been carried out for over 300 foundations in offshore windfarms throughout Europe.
At the offshore site, the monopiles were upended and installed by Ballast Nedam’s heavy lift vessel, Svanen.
Baltic 2 consists of 39 monopiles and 41 jackets for 80 Siemens 3.6 MW wind turbines.
After the installation works at the Baltic 2 windfarm, Svanen will head for the installation of foundations at the Butendiek offshore windfarm in the German North Sea.
