Bespoke port training course
BMT Group in the UK has partnered with the Port of Dover to launch a two day interactive training course for harbour masters, port managers and port authorities called ‘Managing port safety and security.
The course aims to provide delegates with a better understanding of what’s required to help meet the guidance contained within the Port Marine Safety Code.
Kevin Richardson, chief harbour master, Port of Dover, said he believes strongly that the training partnership will really benefit port professionals and port executives alike “to better understand their roles and responsibilities.”
The two day workshop is scheduled to take place on 12 and 13 February 2014 and will be delivered by experienced port operators, marine safety practitioners and guest speakers. It will also feature contributions from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB).
Content will include interactive emergency planning and response exercises using BMT’s Rembrandt simulation software, enabling attendees to identify and assess risk mitigation measures. Exercises will also help plan for and respond to emergency ‘what if’ scenarios within a simulated port environment.
BMT also provides training courses on application of the PSMC, ISM and ISPS Codes.
