Building bridges at Hamburg
Spain’s boarding bridge expert, ADELTE Ports & Maritime has been contracted to manufacture and install two state-of-the-art HYDRA model Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges (SPBBs) at Hamburg’s new cruise terminal.
The HYDRA boarding bridges will be equipped with an innovative feature for SPBBs patented by ADELTE – a docking ramp which allows access to cruise ships doors below quay level.
Cruise Gate Hamburg Terminaleigentumsgesellschaft (CGH), a subsidiary of Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), is currently building the new terminal Cruise Center Steinwerder at the heart of the city’s port in conjunction with Hamburg Airport. When opened in June 2015, it will be able to accommodate next generation cruise vessels.
Unlike the existing terminals in Altona and HafenCity, the new terminal will have separate buildings for arrivals and for departures and both will be connected to ADELTE’s new SPBBs which will handle fast embarking and disembarking operations for 8,000 cruise guests per day.
ADELTE now has a total of SPBBs operating in Kiel and Hamburg.
