Call for material tech papers

Lightweight structures have always been at the forefront of research. There have been recent advances in the marine use of aluminium and titanium as well as continuing rapid progress in the available range of composites. Steel structures have also been addressed with continuing research into high strength varieties, not to mention steel composite and sandwich materials.

The event will look at their application in piping and secondary structures (grating, handrails, cable trays, etc) and their increasing use for large scale primary structures. These developments brings new challenges in terms of large scale production issues, structural integrity, fatigue resistance, load transfer to metal structures, fire safety and other aspects.

RINA is calling for papers from everyone associated with material development on all aspects of marine and offshore advanced materials. Topics under the spotlight include fibre-metal composites, organic materials, resins, cores and the interaction of new materials with metals, including load transfers and corrosion. Further areas include developing laminate specifications, as well as new production procedures and design experiences.
