CT Offshore makes progress
CT Offshore is making progress on the West of Duddon Sands offshore windfarm in the Irish Sea and has reached the half way point, installing 54 cables to date.
A total of 108 cables are to be laid by the company for the windfarm, which is jointly owned by DONG Energy and Scottish Power Renewables.
The first cable was laid in June.
Frank Hansen, CEO, CT Offshore AS, said: “The record so far is 2½ cables installed in one day, which is a fantastic result.”
A Master at the company’s cable laying vessel, CLV SIA, added: “Challenges arise during such a large project. However, through our well experienced cable and project team, supported by the terrific cooperation with DONG, we are able to keep one step ahead all the time and find a prompt and best fit solution for all parties.”
CLV SIA was re-designed in-house and purpose built for the West Duddon Sands offshore windfarm and has operated on the project since June 2013.
The project will have a total installed capacity of 389MW and will provide renewable energy for more than 300,000 UK households.
It is expected to be fully operational by 2014.
