Damen hauls in orders
The UKs GPS Marine inked a contract with Damen this week at the Seawork exhibition, to purchase the biggest vessel on the pontoons this year.
GPS Marine (B179) from Chatham signed the contract for the 2m Damen Shoal Buster Tug (berth V30).
John Spencer, managing director, GPS Marine, is busy expanding the marine contracting business and was delighted to conclude a deal in the “right market at the right place”.
Meanwhile, inside the exhibition halls, Nick Jeffrey, general manager of Solent Towage, signed contracts for two new tug/line handlers from Damen: a 1205 and a 1606. The vessels will be used for Exxon work at the Fawley refinery in Southampton, UK.
Solent Towage already operates a number of vessels built by the Dutch shipyard.
Damen sales manager, Arjen van Elk, pointed out that one of these tugs had lasted over 18 years and clocked up 36,000 hours on the engines. A testament to the tug’s longevity and reliability.
