Damen in France
A new managing director has been chosen for Damen Shiprepair Brest.
Mr Jos Goris succeeds Mr André Hollander, who managed the yard (formerly known as Sobrena) since Damen Shipyards Group’s took over operations three months ago. He will remain at DSB as general affairs officer. Damen Shiprepair Brest employs 210 workers and operates three large graven dry docks, of which the largest measures 420m by 80m.
Mr Goris has vast experience in shiprepair & conversion and has been the managing director of Damen Shiprepair Götaverken (DSGö) in Sweden, which he integrated into the Damen Shipyards Group. LNG carriers, VLCCs and offshore vessels will be an important part of DSB’s business.
Damen Shiprepair Brest will seek to play an active role in its economic and maritime environment and will be participating in discussions with French maritime interest groups and, in particular, discussions on maritime initiatives in Brittany.
