Damen supplier built in Ecuador
A Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1605 will be built for the first time in Ecuador by Astilleros Navales Ecuatorianos (Astinave) shipyard.
“Damen will do everything in its power to ensure that Astinave can accomplish this tight deadline,” said Ezequiel Najmias, Damen sales manager Americas. The fast crew supplier will arrive at PetroEcuador this September. More fast crew suppliers and other vessels are currently a possibility as negotiations are being made with Astinave.
The vessel will be far from a standard vessel as usually the Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1605 transports 29 passengers. This vessel however, is being designed for only 19. As well as being more luxurious and spacious, it is being adapted for a 3m system to transfer passengers to the rigs.
Having the Ecuadorian yard build several cutter suction dredgers and Stan Patrols has enabled Astinave and Damen to develop a long established relationship. This latest order followed one in September 2011 for a Stan Patrol 2606 and Astinave employees also attend training courses at the headquarters for Damen Shipyards in the Netherlands.
