The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore windfarms for the next years and is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks.

The FCS 2610 has been designed for crew comfort for operation in higher sea states. Its axe bow hull means that resistance is low which Damen says leads to “excellent seakeeping behaviour” and lower fuel consumption.

Chiel de Leeuw, sales manager, Scandinavia, Damen, said: “Damen is very much looking forward to seeing Sea Consult’s business grow in this exciting market and hopes that the two companies can develop a long lasting fruitful cooperation.”

Elsewhere, Damen’s largest ever stock-built pontoon has been sold to the Canadian McKiel-Malaspina partnership.

The Damen Stan Pontoon, which measures 120m by 32.2m and has a deadweight capacity of around 20,000 tonnes, will be towed to Newfoundland this summer to support offshore construction operations.

The barge is equipped with a ballast system, generating set and mooring winches and can be used for complex ro-ro operations and transport of large offshore constructions.
