Delta power Irish Coastguard

Back in early 2011, Delta secured an order from the Irish Coastguard to supply 12 high spec RIBs as part of an extensive upgrade programme for its search and rescue fleet.

Three 9m RIBs were delivered last year and are equipped with shockwave seating and Yamaha F225 outboard motors.

It is expected that this second batch of RIBs, seven more slightly smaller vessels – one 7m, two 7.5m and four 8m Super Xs, are expected to be delivered shortly, following demanding tests and trials in January.

This just leaves two more vessels to be delivered before the contract is fulfilled.

Interestingly, the new vessels replace will replace older Delta RIBs that have been in operation since the early 1990s, which will remain in operation until the point of delivery.

Delta RIBs are mainly constructed in house which helps to ensure maximum quality control, aside from major fabrications which are undertaken by specialist sub contractors.
