Docking solutions for EDF stations

The UK’s Docking Solutions is to supply two transfer stations at Hartlepool for energy giant, EDF.

The transfer stations will be similar to previous Docking Solutions pontoon and walkways

The work involved for Hartlepool consists of a 38m long by 3m wide pontoon and access bridge. The construction will enable two 20m support vessels, carrying maintenance personnel and equipment to the windfarm, to be serviced at the same time.

Will Robertson, contracts manager, Docking Solutions, said: “A lot of our work involves major projects all over the country. Offshore windfarms have a constant requirement for maintenance and servicing. We are delighted to be asked to design, manufacture and install this pontoon work for the important work of servicing this pioneering project.”

EDF is already a major developer and operator of onshore windfarms in the UK and is looking to establish its presence in the offshore sector with a 62MW, 27 wind turbine development off the coast at Redcar.

Docking Solutions produces bespoke pontoons, bridges and access systems for the offshore windfarm sector.
