Dockstavarvet delivers to Germany
Swedish shipbuilder, Dockstavarvet, has delivered a new pilot boat to Wilhelmshaven in Germany, 12 months after the contract signing and two weeks ahead of schedule.
The new LVS Warnemünde, which has been based on a series of 17m pilot boats previously delivered to Germany, measures 19m by 5m. Classed by Germanischer Lloyd, the pilot boat features a new hull design with a waterline length of 18.5m, to comply with strict specification requirements.
The aluminium vessel weighs around 34 tonnes and has a maximum speed of 25 knots. Lotsbetrib GmbH will operate the vessel on behalf of Wasser und Schifffahrtsdirektion Nordwest at the new deep water container terminal at JadeWeserPort on the North Sea coast.
Dockstavarvet has fitted the vessel with two Volvo Penta D16 550hp main engines to maximise fuel consumption and keep maintenance costs low and has mounted its deckhouse to ensure a low noise level for crew comfort and safety.
Global marine electronics company, Furuno, equipped the vessel with its navigation and communication package. The system comprises two 12kW radars, one FMD-3200 ECDIS plotter system with a 19 inch display, as well as GPS compass, dGPS receiver, autopilot, echosounder, AIS and camera systems.
