Dutch wind farm consent

Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) has been given the go ahead to build the first offshore wind farm to receive approval in the Netherlands for almost seven years. SSE’ s renewable energy division Airtricity obtained consent from the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works & Water Management to build the West Rijn wind farm some 40km off the Dutch coast. It will feature up to 72 turbines and generate about 260 MW of electricity.
