DWB survey boat completes first rental project with Van Oord
Back in September 2017 DutchWorkboats launched one of its Fast Survey Boat 7.50s. Straight after trials it was rented out to Van Oord to conduct multibeam surveys at its dredging project in the Cork port channel (Ireland).
Over September and October DWB’s demo/rental Fast Survey Boat 7.50 Seblau was hired by international dredging company Van Oord. The Van Oord crew towed the boat on its dedicated trailer by road and ferries to its Cork station. At the project, two dredging ships worked on bringing the channel to the Port of Cork and its berths back to navigable depth. The FSB 7.50 was deployed daily for multibeam survey support and crew transfers.
This FSB 7.50 was built by DWB for deployment at rental projects in Europe and for demo use. The boat is easily transported on its trailer and can be hoisted by a crane or launched from a ramp. It has a large cabin for 4-5 crew to double as a crew tender. A novelty on this vessel is the brand new outboard engine from OXE Diesel. For power support a Fischer Panda genset has been installed. Van Oord’s R2Sonic 2024 multi beam system was kept secure in Seblau’s moon pool. The DWB team also has reported that it assisted Van Oord with mobilising and testing the survey equipment on board.
