EMEC Backs Harmonisation
The European Marine Equipment Council (EMEC), which represents some 1,250 companies across Europe, has welcomed the Draft EP TRAN Committee Reports amendments to the European Commissions Draft Classification Societies Directive.
The amendments proposed would secure the progressive harmonisation of class rules and regulations, meaning that all marine equipment produced in Europe or installed on a ship classified by European recognised organisations will be based in future on equivalent high standards.
