First of four 24m WFSVs for Seacat Services
Seacat Resolute is the first of four 24m DNV class multi-purpose windfarm support vessels being built for Seacat Services Ltd of Cowes, Isle of Wight, by South Boats Special Projects Ltd .
The vessel is powered by MTU 12V2000 M72 main engines engines driving Rolls-Royce 56A3 waterjets through ZF 3050 series gearboxes to provide a cruising speed of 25 knots and a sprint speed of 30 knots.
Seacat Resolute complements its19m sister vessels, Seacat Endeavour and Seacat Reliance, also built by South Boats, and will soon be joined by another new sister, Seacat Vigilant.
The vessel measures 24.7m LOA with a beam of 8m and a draft of 1.2m. It is certified DNV + 1A1 HSLC R2 Windfram Service 1 and UK MCA Cat 1 for working up to 150 miles from safe haven. The design provides a generous combined cargo capacity of some 20 tonnes, with 15 tonnes forward and 5 tonnes aft. This makes for an extremely versatile vessel, augmented by a Palfinger 6501 crane and provision for a crew access system. The independently mounted superstructure keeps noise and vibration to a minimum.
Seacat Resolute has commenced operations on the Greater Gabbard offshore windfarm, where it is tasked with transporting technicians and equipment to the turbines for routine servicing and troubleshooting.
