Five more patrol boats for Oman
Spanish shipyard Rodman Polyships has just reached an agreement with the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard, for the construction of five patrol boats; a contract said to be worth €42 million.
The contract signing ceremony took place on 1st July 2015, between I.G. Lt. Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, on behalf of the Owner, and the Commercial Director from Rodman, at the Headquarters of the Royal Oman Police in Muscat.
With 35.3 metres length, this completely new Patrol Boat model has been entirely developed in house to offer a combination of high seas performance, reliability and quality building.
These IPVs will be powered with two diesel engines of 16 cylinders through water jets, allowing them to reach a maximum speed of 40 knots, at full displacement. The Rodman 111 has been designed for a crew of 15 and provides a range of 600 miles.
Rodman have stated that the vessels will be equipped with the latest generation navigation systems together with night vision equipment.
The total amount of this new order is said to be in excess of €42 million and has a delivery date of 24 months for all five vessels. At the end of 2013, Rodman delivered three 101 model Fast Patrol Vessels to the same customer.
