FLIR unveils AX8 temperature sensor
US-based FLIR Systems has launched a new AX8 fixed-mount temperature sensor for automated and uninterrupted condition monitoring or critical electrical and mechanical equipment.
The new system combines thermal and visible cameras with its MSX technology to provide early detection of temperature-related issues in electrical and mechanical equipment, guarding against unplanned outages, service interruptions and equipment failure.
“With the AX8, FLIR is continuing to find new and innovative uses for its increasingly-more affordable thermal imaging technologies,” said Andy Teich, president and CEO, FLIR.
“The AX8 is another example of how our new Lepton core’s revolutionary price, size, and low power consumption is creating a new product category and corresponding applications,” he added.
FLIR’s AX8 has 4,800 active temperature points per image, provides streaming temperature data over industry-standard interfaces for easy analysis, features a built-in web interface and includes a full suite of analysis and alarm functions that automatically send alerts when the sensor detects elevated temperatures.
