Further expansion for Tidal Transit
Norfolk UK based crew transfer expert, Tidal Transit, is expanding due to continued growth in the construction, maintenance and operation of offshore windfarms in UK coastal waters.
Tidal Transit’s commercial director Leo Hambro said that the UK’s burgeoning offshore wind industry is leading to ongoing demand for the company’s passenger transfer vessels (PTVs).
A good example of this is the new contract won with Siemens on Westermost Rough, which is due to begin on 1 October 2014.
Because the firm is anticipating the need for further capacity, it is also establishing its own marine engineering centre at Egmere, not far from the company’s headquarters, which will serve as the base for its maintenance, parts and marine engineering activities.
“This is a very exciting time for the company,” said Mr Hambro. “We see the establishment of the centre as a building block in any future expansion plans and a widening of the range of services we offer to our windfarm clients. We are very much looking forward to building on the 30,000 safe passenger transfers completed by our present fleet of specialist PVTs.”
Mr Hambro said that the spec of its vessels exceeds the current fleet being used for the same purpose in the UK, Tidal Transit’s vessels have MCA CAT 1 coding and 10,000 litre fuel tanks to enable them to work up to 150 miles offshore, well within the range of the UK’s forthcoming Round 3 offshore windfarms.
