Greece benefits from Transas simulation
Leading marine software developer and supplier, the Transas Group, has supplied a new Navigational Simulator Complex to Costamare Maritime Training Services in Athens, Greece.
The simulator complex consists of a Transas Full Mission Bridge Simulator NTPRO 5000 latest version with 240 degrees of visualisation, ECDIS Class and debriefing area.
Panagiotis Giannoulis, managing director, Transas Hellas, said to Maritime Journal: “The simulator complex will help Costamare achieve several goals. Firstly, it will provide a platform for STCW compliant training. Both NTPRO full mission bridge and ECDIS class are intended for training in full compliance with STCW. In the case of ECDIS training, generic training which Costamare will carry out with the help of Transas simulator, is mandatory for all officers serving onboard vessels equipped with ECDIS.”
Costamare will now also be able to issue certificates of competency in ECDIS operation as the simulator meets all necessary requirements.
The Transas package will also help to decrease training time at sea – meaning minimum exposure to unnecessary risk and a reduction in training expenses.
Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) has also just upgraded its training facility with the latest simulators from Transas, including ECDIS simulator class to meet the demand for ECDIS training.
